The Center on Colfax is presenting “Out for Health,” a Virtual Resource Fair designed to raise awareness about LGBTQ-friendly health services available in the Denver metro area. The online health fair will feature a variety of exhibitors and will be available on The Center’s website for the entire month of October.
“Our mission is to ensure that every member of the LGBTQ community has access to the programs and resources they need to live happy, healthy, and productive lives. Health care is an issue that impacts all of us, and we want to keep our community well-informed about how to access resources,” said The Center’s CEO Rex Fuller. “With the pandemic limiting our in-person programming, we believe it’s more important than ever to provide content that is interesting and relevant.”
The Center currently operates on an annual budget of $2.3 million, employs 20 staff members, and utilizes more than 500 community volunteers to serve more than 52,000 people each year.

Healthcare access remains a challenge for many LGBTQ community members. Although queer folk have similar or better rates of insurance coverage compared to their cis-het counterparts, they are more likely to experience delays in getting needed healthcare according to an UCLA study.
In addition to providing information on healthcare providers that are dedicated to offering a welcoming, safe environment for LGBTQ community members, The Center will also host a series of virtual programs on health-related topics including author interviews and workshops.
The Center is still seeking sponsors and exhibitors for the fair. For more information, visit here. While closed to the public, The Center continues to offer many of its services remotely and launched a COVID-19 Response Group to keep the community connected. The group, which can be accessed through Facebook, serves as a safe space to share news, information, resources, and friendly conversation.
