Homeowners Beware!

Homeowners Beware!

We have an amazing team over at the Colorado Attorney General’s office. They’re constantly on the hunt to prevent Coloradans from getting ripped off by snakeoil salesmen and the many forms of predatory practices they get up to.

Most recently, the AG’s office (under the brand-new leadership of Cynthia Coffman, no less) successfully sued an air-duct cleaning company for false advertising, making this the fourth time in two years something of the sort has gone down in this state. A consent judgement was obtained against 212 Home Inc. (AKA Denver Air Duct) and its owner, Eliran Raviv. Consumers were reeled in with a bargain $39 cleaning offer, then were charged significantly higher amounts. According to the judgment, the company misrepresented the qualifications of its staff and told homeowners their systems contained mold. Under the consent judgment, Raviv and 212 Home Inc., are permanently barred from the air duct cleaning business in Colorado and must pay $15,000 in penalties.

“It costs about $300 to properly clean a home air duct system, so Coloradans need to review deals that seem too good to be true with a skeptical eye,” says Coffman. “Unprofessional air duct cleanings can damage consumers’ HVAC systems and stir up dust and debris, which may lead to health issues.”

Good to know! Many thanks to Carolyn Tyler of the AG’s office for her continual and reliable updates on what’s going down, as well as always being available to take questions from the pesky ol’ media. StopFraudColorado.gov.
