Gritty in Pink Holiday Special Benefits The Sidewalk Project

Wrapping up a year of launching a live event series that transformed into a virtual community, Gritty in Pink is back with a final Instagram event to celebrate the holiday season on December 15 at 7:00 p.m. PST.

Founded by Shira Yevin, Gritty began in January as a monthly concert at The Satellite in Los Angeles and soon adapted into an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the setback, Gritty Rocks Live (GRL) launched virtual tours that featured female artists from cities all across the country and raised thousands of dollars for charities, including ACLU and Headcount. The Holiday Special, hosted by Shiragirl and Bodacious Thang, will be a live fundraiser for The Sidewalk Project, a female-founded, project-based arts and public health awareness group that works to empower and bring aid to houseless communities across the world.

“The Sidewalk Project is delighted to collaborate with Gritty in Pink because of their vital mission to empower women in music,” said Soma Snakeoil, executive director and co-founder of The Sidewalk Project. “We are a female led organization that shares a similar mission to empower houseless communities around the world through various mediums, including art, music, film, and public health. We are incredibly appreciative of Gritty in Pink’s support.”

Audiences can expect an electrifying lineup of female artists hailing from all over the country performing in the two-hour long special, including Suvi, Alicia Vigil (Vigil of War/Dragonforce), and Stacey Dee (Bad Cop Bad Cop), who also serves as the COO and co-founder of The Sidewalk Project.

Two of the show’s artists recently released holiday singles: “Angel on a Tree” by Shenna and “Tinsel Wonderland” by Harper Starling. Shenna’s new single is dedicated to all those who were lost during this difficult year, while Starling’s focuses on the beauty of Christmas time.

“What Shira has done for the female musician community is absolutely incredible,” Vigil said. “She has brought together so many amazing people, far and wide, and created lifelong friendships. It is an honor to be a part of something so special, and I cannot wait to leave 2020 on a good note like this.”
