Denver Digerati Artist Teague McDaniel Presents Trans Praxis

Denver Digerati is proud to announce their current artist in residence, Teague McDaniel (they/them). This residency marks the debut of McDaniel’s new series, Trans Praxis, which explores transgender identities through an intersectional lens.

McDaniel will utilize Denver Digerati’s venue as a studio, a place to dive into and explore theory, present artwork, and share their process with others. McDaniel invites viewers to contemplate the multifaceted nature of transgender experiences through their innovative use of augmented reality and interactive, two-dimensional artwork.

McDaniel is an interdisciplinary artist and curator. Their current roles include acting as the founder and curator at Creative Integration Initiative (CII), adjunct professor in the Department of Art at MSU Denver, art writer for OFM, and as an artist in residence through Denver Digerati with art that includes an AR component.

Their art practice is media agnostic and frequently traverses installation, performance, social practice, painting, and printmaking. Teague approaches their practice through their lens as a single parent and queer, trans artist and art consultant who is white, multiply disabled, and neurodivergent. They hold an MA in Art from Colorado Western University and BA in Studio Art from MSU Denver.

In addition to the one-night premiere of this series on June 24, a series of engaging events will lead up to and follow the exhibition, providing visitors with a comprehensive exploration of this theme. Find out more at Denver Digerati’s website or McDaniel’s website.
