The end of the year also means it’s open enrollment season in Colorado; for anyone who might not already have healthcare coverage through an employer or another program, it’s the time to sign up for 2022 coverage. And thanks to the American Rescue Plan Act, passed in early 2021, more residents can save on health insurance through Connect for Health Colorado in next year’s coverage.

“If you find yourself uninsured or are looking for health insurance but don’t know where to begin, Connect for Health Colorado is the place to go,” says CEO Kevin Patterson. “We are here to help Coloradans figure out their options and provide decision-making support tools, so you can get the coverage you need at the price you can afford. Don’t let this open enrollment period go by without contacting us; you might be surprised to find more plan options in your budget than ever before.”

Connect for Health Colorado is a public nonprofit entity, established by the Colorado General Assembly in 2011, to create a health insurance marketplace and help individuals, families, and small employers in comparing plans, applying for financial help, and buying health insurance. It also works to help lower the monthly cost of premiums.

According to a release, even folks who were previously ineligible because of their income are encouraged to reapply, noting that two of three customers who applied for financial help in 2021 and didn’t qualify could now receive that help in 2022. In addition, those currently enrolled in a plan through Connect for Health Colorado are encouraged to update their application and are likely to qualify for more financial help.

In addition, Connect for Health Colorado is launching a new program to provide more healthcare savings to people whose income is just over the limit to receive Colorado’s Medicaid program, Health First Colorado, and who enroll in a Silver-level plan. Those eligible for this program can apply through Connect for Health Colorado and enroll in a Silver-level plan to see those extra savings applied to those plans while shopping.

The open enrollment period runs through January 15, 2022. For more information, visit the Connect for Health Colorado website
