GOP Candidate Says Jared Polis Isn’t Really Gay

Governor Jared Polis

Colorado Governor Jared Polis made history when he became the first out, gay state governor in the US, though one GOP candidate claims it’s all an act. That’s right, folks; according to Danielle Neuschwanger, running in the republican primary to be governor of Colorado, Polis is straight, his marriage to Marlon Reis was “a sham” (and, I guess, their children too?), and it was all a ploy to get LGBTQ votes.

Of course, this is not only an offensive, baseless reach but also a strange tactic to win support herself, as she says she is apparently an open supporter of the LGBTQ community. Neuschwanger made the strange accusations at a meet-and-greet in Canon City, Colorado last week, according to a report from the Colorado Times Recorder

It was initially a time to talk politics, touching on COVID-19 vaccines, steering toward government secrets about the Kennedy assassination (which, as we all know, is a crucial issue in the upcoming midterm), same-gender couples adopting, and then finally, heterosexual Polis and his grand conspiracy.

“You guys want to know something crazy about Polis? He’s not even gay,” she said at the event, in audio captured by an attendee.“I didn’t know any of this until, like, we got involved in politics. So, his real name is Jared Schutz, and he was married to a woman, who he used to abuse the heck out of.”

She said Polis sexually assaulted a woman and then changed his name, then got involved in politics and “figured out the way to get the gays in Colorado was to have someone run for governor who is gay. So, right before this happened, they told Jared Polis he had to get divorced.”

She continued saying no one knew he was gay until right before he won, “He came out as the first Jewish gay guy in Colorado. He’s not actually gay! So then, they bring in Marlon—and, you know, have you ever seen him and Marlon have public displays of affection, hold hands, kiss, hug?”

The tale winds on, as she suggested Polis and his head of security “sneak prostitutes in and out of his apartment in Boulder all the time,” have swingers’ parties, and “all kind of things,” including that he is apparently the cousin of California Governor Gavin Newsom.

She kept talking: “But it gets even better: his whole marriage to Marlon was supposed to be part of his reelection campaign in Colorado, but COVID shut it down, hence they only did that little private ceremony when Biden was out so that they could time Biden’s sensationalized media when he came to Colorado to be at Polis’ wedding. And they never even kissed at their wedding. It’s all a sham.”

So … first thing’s first—her story doesn’t line up with the basic information available online about Polis, nor the coverage and recollection of LGBTQ journalists who have been covering out officials. Polis was first elected to Congress in 2008, years before he became governor, and in 2011 made history as the first out, gay parent to be a member of Congress. He and Reis got married in 2021 but met in 2002. They had kids in 2011 and 2014.

Also, there’s no evidence Joe Biden was at their wedding, that Polis and Newsom are related, that Polis sexually assaulted a woman, abused a former wife, or even had one. Seems like she’s taking a page out of the Trump playbook and embracing “alternative facts.”

Though Polis’s last name was Schutz when he was younger, but he changed it to his mother’s last name at 25 and kept Schutz as his middle name.

After her speech leaked, Neuschwanger said she stands by everything she said. Polis is not commenting on her claims.

If you have a headache after reading Neuschwanger’s abundant fables … you’re not alone. Yikes.
