Michigan Religious Discrimination Bill Passes House

A Michigan bill similar to that of Arizona’s piece of legislation vetoed by Gov. Jan Brewer has passed the Republican-held House over the weekend. The bill, which has been described as a “license to discriminate” would allow anyone to deny fraternization with LGBT individuals if it conflicted with their religious beliefs.

The bill is so vague and broad that this could mean an EMT could lawfully refuse to help a gay person or a DMV worker could refuse to help a divorced individual.

The nest steps for the piece of legislation is a vote by the Michigan Senate, and finally, a signature by Republican Gov. Rick Snyder. [H/T NewNowNext]
