Denver PrideFest fashion a walk on the wild side

PrideFest is known for flamboyant fashion, and this year’s festivities were no different. With everything from bright shirts and fairy wings to wigs, kilts and knee-high rainbow socks, people really went all out to show their true colors. OFC was there, of course, and we kept our eyes peeled for all of the hottest fashion trends.

It isn't the red carpet, but the streets of downtown Denver always prove to be a fashion statement.

It seemed that every outfit started with bright colors, with pink, green and yellow standing out the most. From there, the sky was the limit. Many guys chose to wear nothing more than a bright pair of ManView skivvies, while others showed their pride from head-to-toe with rainbow attire. We found that both the guys and the gals loved the rainbow knee-high socks, and these could be found everywhere around Civic Center Park. The guys liked to pair them with knee-high black boots with just the tops of the socks showing. Cowboy hats also were all the rage, with styles ranging from simple black to rainbow stripes.
We also spotted a few guys wearing kilts that just screamed “manly.” Other guys chose to go the simple sexpot route, going shirtless with a pair of plaid shorts. We also caught a glimpse of three sexy sailors – minus the uniforms – but with fashionable sailor hats that were sure to make any guy swoon. The girls also found a way to be oh so hot; going shirtless with X-marks-the-spot taped nipples paired with shorts or even a pair of sexy underwear and thigh-high lace stockings. Other gals wore tutus and bright wigs, while others wore macho wife-beaters paired with suspenders.

Of course, being creative is something that the LGBT community has always been great at, and, in these tough economic days, we found tons of people who made their own fashion pieces. Fairy wings seemed to steal the show with all kinds of adornments that really made things fun. One guy even had a rainbow tasseled shirt that was reminiscent of wings, which, paired with his stylin’ mohawk, seemed as if he could fly away to the next happening spot.

This year’s PrideFest was a sea of swarming colors, outrageous fashion and smiles galore. Throw in the flamboyant parade, the rocking bands and plenty of friends, and this was one party that won’t soon be forgotten. However, it’s never too early to start planning your outfit for next year, so just be sure to go even more over-the-top in 2012. Here’s hoping everyone had a fun and safe Pride … we sure did.
