Denver/Adams County same-sex marriages halted
by clear hat
July 18, 2014
The Colorado Supreme court has ruled in favor of Attorney General John Suthers’s appeal, and has halted Denver and Adams county clerks from issuing same-sex marriage licenses while the state’s marriage ban remains in place.
Today, the high court contacted Debra Johnson with the order. Johnson stated that she was disappointed by the ruling but would respect the decision.
All court rulings in Colorado thus far have been in favor of same-sex marriage, however, all of these hearings have stays in place to be reviewed by higher courts.
