Probe 7 Release Altered Psychedelic Furs Cover “Pretty in Pink (Isn’t He)”

Probe 7

Synth-based bear duo Probe 7 have released a new single and video today for a rewritten cover of the classic Psychedelic Furs song “Pretty in Pink” retitled “Pretty in Pink (Isn’t He).” The original 1981 Psychedelic Furs hit tells the story of a promiscuous woman named Caroline who feels empowered by her sexuality but remains unaware that her lovers are laughing at her behind her back. Probe 7’s beautifully reimagined version instead tells the story of a young queer boy named Christopher and his journey towards self-acceptance.

“It is important for gay artists to tell their stories to empower others, especially younger people who are struggling to become comfortable with themselves and fight hatefulness and judgment that is unfortunately prominent in our society” says the band’s synth player and founding member Brent Heinze regarding the single.

Versions of this song appeared on the group’s 2022 album Transference, however the newly released single features 15 different remixes of the song by Beelzebubba, Matt Consola & Tommy Marcus, The Cassandra Complex, Ego Likeness, Angelspit, Provision, The AXIOM Divide, Eloquent, Revolution State, Spoils of Grace, Swishcraft, Jack Chang, Aliester Growley, James Grey, and Seven Whores of the Apocalypse. The video features several students who are part of the the Sexuality & Gender Alliance (SAGA) at the College of the Desert and depicts Christopher’s struggle in accepting his own queerness.

This song is their 10th release from their own independent label that they started called Lokusdor Records. The band are already working on their next studio album in southern California.

You can purchase the full single from the Probe 7 Bandcamp page. Make sure to keep up with Probe 7 by following them on Instagram @probe7music as well as on Facebook and Twitter and their website probe7music.com.
