OUTstanding Lesbian Bar – eden Bar & Cuisine Lounge
3090 Downing St., 80205
Right as Jody B.’s tHERe bar was closing, Tracks’ women’s concept, eden, was starting up. The new garden for girls has filled the void well. Featuring plenty of posh seating, pool tables, TVs, music and cocktails, this watering hole is perfect for ladies night, and OFC readers handily voted eden their favorite lesbian bar.
OUTstanding gay bar – Charlie’s
900 E. Colfax Ave., 80218
No matter how ‘cool’ Denver gets, the city will never lose its history as a cow town. And that’s not a bad thing as long as as Charlie’s, Denver’s own gay cowboy bar, is still around. Featuring two dance floors – one pop, one country – weekly drag shows, $4 32 oz. pitchers of domestic beer and half-off Thursdays, its no wonder why all country roads led to Charlie’s in this year’s readers’ choice contest.
The Wrangler
1700 Logan St., 80203
While the Wrangler is known for its legendary Sunday beer bust, OFC readers say there’s more to this Uptown establishment. Featuring some of the best happy hour specials in town – $2 vodka, hell-oh! – the Wrangler has evolved into one of the coolest haunts in town. Where else can a boy cruise, dance, play darts, pool or pinball all at the same time? Don’t miss this bar’s Sweat dance parties or their new leather night on the third Friday of each month.
OUTstanding nightclub – Tracks Nightclub
3500 Walnut St., 80205
Go big or go home. While it’s not Tracks’ official motto, it might as well be. The largest gay nightclub in the Mile High City doesn’t do anything small. Whether it’s a dance party, theme night or drag show, Tracks does it right. Nobody’s surprised Tracks won the most OFC reader votes for OUTstanding nightclub. Featuring the hottest bartenders, DJs and beats, you can’t go wrong with a night at Tracks.
OUTstanding bar to cruise after dumping your crazy ex – X Bar
629 E. Colfax Ave., 80203
Did you finally dump the loser? Good! Now head over to X-Bar – no pun intended – for a stiff cocktail or cold beer. One of Denver’s newest gay bars, the joint that just celebrated its one-year anniversary has already become on of the most popular. You’re sure to meet at the love of your life, err … rebound, at X-Bar!
OUTstanding Monthly Party (Women) – Babes Around Denver First Friday
Is there any competition? Nope. Dede Frain’s First Friday party reigns supreme for girls who like girls. Celebrating yet another successful year, XXX, First Friday has become a must event to see and be seen, not just for the ladies, but T-Girls and gay boys, too. While some look forward to pay day, OFC readers look forward to First Fridays.
OUTstanding Monthly Party (Men) – Porn Star Second Friday
Fridays in Denver have been notorious as a nothing-to-do wasteland in the gay men’s scene. But that all changed when DJ Tatiana launched her Porn Star Second Friday party at Bar Standard. Now, one Friday night a month quenches our thirst just fine! Why? Hot bartenders. Hot DJs. Hot porn stars. A horde of OFC readers, who voted the party as their top spot. What more do you need?
OUTstanding hangover cure – Petes breakfast burrito
1962 E. Colfax Ave., 80206
Think of a breakfast burrito supreme at Pete’s Kitchen on Colfax as the hangover equivalent to the morning-after pill. It’s a delicious mix of multiple meats, eggs wrapped in a tortilla, smothered in green chili, topped with cheese, onions and tomatoes. Don’t forget to ask for extra veggies!
OUTstanding hangover cure if you’re a hipster and/or vegetarian – City O’ City
206 E. 13th Ave., 80203
If Pete’s burrito has too much meat for you – is there such a thing? – then head to City O’ City. The vegetarian staple just expanded its dinning room and menu. Whether you’re Jonesing for oatmeal or tofu, this is the place.
OUTstanding bar to get away from the gays – Maloney’s Tavern
1432 Market St., 80202
Too much drama? Tired of the shade? Then head down to Maloney’s Tavern. This cool but casual bar features a wide selection of beers, happy hour specials. Oh, and plenty of hot ‘bros.
