Same-sex marriage begins in Oregon after marriage ban was struck down

Marriage equality struck another blow today as a federal judge in Oregon ruled the same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional — effective immediately.
U.S. District Court Judge Michael McShane writes, “because Oregon’s marriage laws discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, the laws violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.”
This ruling comes as a unique first as well: no government officials plan on appealing this ruling.
Oregon does have a 3 day waiting period to issue marriage licenses, but certain loopholes can be exploited for those who wish to get married today.
