Mississippi’s Same-Sex Marriage Ban Struck Down

U.S. District Court Judge Carlton Reeves found Mississippi’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional finding it violates the guarantee of equal protection. The decision has been placed on hold for two weeks.
Judge Reeves found the hearing did not require additional scrutiny, but could have been decided using the first level: rational basis review.
