They who had the Best Pride Ever

Screenshot 2014-06-26 at 11.01.59 AMOut Front’s own Best Pride Ever contest was a huge hit this summer, and we had a lot of participation. But only one photo could win the contest, and it was a hard fought battle of social media wits and prowess that propelled Ashley Woodard and her fiance, Paige Sarnacki into the first place spot. We talked with Ashley about the highs and lows of the contest, and all of her favorite parts of the grand prize.

On contest voting:

Pre-pride and the contest was pretty stressful, not gonna lie. You work so hard asking people to go “like” your pic only to wake up the next morning and see someone has caught up to you. It was a fun competition, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t work at all that week lol. I just spent all my time trying to get likes. My fiancee’ even went door to door at work asking people to like it. So it was quite a relief when it was finished and we had won.”

On Pride itself:

Pride was amazing! It definitely was The Best Pride Ever and made all our hard work so worth it. We got to celebrate our new engagement with all our friends without having to worry about a huge bill at the end of our night.”

On utilizing the Grand Prize:

“We used everything but the Wrangler passes, which we gave to some friends. And that was mainly because the World Cup game was on and you know us lesbians love our sports so we couldn’t miss it! It’s also been nice to have the restaurant gift cards now that Pride is over. We went to Hapa the day after Pride because we had zero food at home haha so it was a nice treat and great way to wrap up the weekend.”

On the best aspects of the prize:

We had a blast at every event we went to, but I’d have to say bottle service for two nights at Tracks was the best. It was a good feeling to treat our friends who had helped us win the competition. It was also pretty cool because we had never had bottle service before so we felt fancy with VIP and the staff took great care of us. The hotel at the Sheraton was great too. We live in Denver, but not super close to downtown so having the hotel to go back to every night was perfect.”

On participating in next year’s contest:

It’s very tempting to enter the contest again because we had so much fun! We joked about how we were so spoiled that it would be hard to go back to doing Pride the old way haha. But I think we’d like to give other couples a chance to have the same experience we had. It was truly a once in a lifetime weekend and we’re so thankful to Out Front and all the sponsors of the contest for making it so memorable for us.
