M&M’s Powerful Rebrand Strides for Belonging Through Inclusivity

M&M's

Love it or hate, M&M’s are here to trail blaze social responsibility and represent an inclusive world. As M&M’s progress forward with modern cultural context, it has sparked conversations.

Some known celebrities have taken fun jabs at the new marketing efforts, and others have accepted and praised the progressive stance that M&M is taking.

Comedian Vinny Thomas openly mocked M&M’s latest announcement that M&M has made powerful strides in rebranding their characters to make everyone feel as if they belong—through the means of representing “inclusive characters.”

All jokes aside, Mars Inc., is taking enormous strides to prove their social awareness through their rebrand. M&M announced on January 20, that they plan on having “more nuanced personalities to underscore the importance of self-expression and power of community through storytelling.”

For instance, the green M&M will wear sneakers to reflect her effortless confidence, and the brown M&M will wear a more realistic heel compared to her previous sexy high-heel shoe. The red M&M will be less dominant and aggressive, and the orange M&M acknowledges his incessant anxiety.

M&M’s intends on changing the skin tone (arms and legs) to match the shell of the candy’s character.

The brave yet humorous change has sparked upheaval from the right-wing Fox News correspondent Tucker Carlson. As we all know, Carlson isn’t shy about his social stances; he disapproves of the M&M’s rebrand. In fact, Carlson bemoaned, “M&M’s will not be satisfied until every  cartoon character is deeply unappealing and totally androgynous.”

However, M&M’s quickly responded to the retorts by stating: “We’re on a mission to create a world where everyone feels they belong using the power of fun! Join us for being for all fun kind.”

As the plot continued to curdle, M&M’s cleverly reacted to all the shenanigans on a Twitter post by poking fun at anyone who disagrees with their sentiments about belonging:

Despite the comedic objections and upheaval, Mars Inc. is adamantly cemented in their newly “woke” position by furthering the point that “Your feed looked like it needed a little more fun; don’t worry, that’s why we’re here. We’ve got a flavor for everyone.”

M&M’s is keeping up with the times and setting the stage for healthy representation across the board.
