When you’re nice and baked, head into the Marijuana Mansion, and immediately immerse yourself in a world of aesthetic environments

“I bought the Mansion about a year ago,” Lisa, owner and creative director of Marijuana Mansion, explains. “When I found out about the mansion through a broker, it was being used as an office space for the nearby apartment, and when I walked in, I immediately saw things in what was an unusual historical landmark.”

Upon first inspection, visitors to the Marijuana Mansion might be confused by the seemingly random placement for a cannabis-related event space. However, once one does some digging, many things start making sense.

The Creswell House was long considered the MJ Mansion before it opened as an event space. Cannabis is a large part of The Creswell House’s history.

During my interview with Lisa, I learned that The Creswell House became a national, historic landmark in 1977. The Marijuana Policy Project previously used The Creswell House for a headquarters and enjoyed a rich history in being used in the legalization of recreational marijuana. The Marijuana Policy Project was responsible for creating the legalization laws for Colorado in 2012.

The mansion was also the offices for the law firm Vicente Sederberg, where the world’s first successful recreational marijuana bill was written—Amendment 64 and many other marijuana milestones.

The mansion was previously scouted as a potential, first-of-a-kind, cannabis spa, but the mansion was too close to an apartment facility considered a daycare. Those exploring the space petitioned the state to open a cannabis spa but were ultimately denied by the state government.

Fresh off our spooky season, if you’re still looking to indulge in that energy, you’ll be happy to know that the Marijuana Mansion is on the ghost tour. The owner of the Marijuana Mansion confirmed that there is, in fact, a ghost in residence in the mansion.

“The artist Ellie Paisley, she was painting a room one night—she was alone. She heard footsteps walking up the stairs, and she turned around, and no one was there, then she felt a cold breath on her neck.” she explains.

At this point, I groaned and changed the topic because haunted things legitimately freak me out.

However, if you find a thrill with ghostly energies and you also are a total pothead, I urge you to take the time to get out of your house to enjoy a cannabis tour and event space, friend.

Each of the different rooms in the Marijuana Mansion cannabis event space offers a different aesthetic. Walking through the Marijuana Mansion reveals clear inspiration from Lisa, influenced by a passion for interior design. There are plenty of different, creative directions.
