KINK Denver’s Fetish Ball Returns to Tracks Friday

Fetish Ball

Get ready for a night of music, tastings, performances, vendors, debauchery, and a whole lot of dancing: KINK Denver’s Fetish Ball is back at Tracks this Friday, May 13. A fitting vibe for the frightening Friday the 13th holiday, the event is embracing the theme “7 Deadly Sins.”

The event will feature three rooms, along with a number of rules to ensure all attendees feel safe throughout the evening. some include: no sex or nudity allowed in the venue or on venue grounds, asking before touching, communicating clearly and understanding “no means no,” honoring safe words and respecting boundaries, consenting freely without facing coercion or manipulation, light and sober play only, and respecting the privacy of other attendees (i.e. not outing non-monogamous folks to family, friends, and coworkers).

The final rule is simply “keep learning and stay positive,” adding that “kink is about being expressed and having fun. We can always learn more from each other.”

Ahead of the event, we caught up with Michael Jimenez, aka Rufio, owner and Manager of Ru Entertainment which produces the event alongside Reel Works. Take a deeper look at the night of sin and celebration:

How long has this event been running?

I have been producing Kink Fetish Ball since 2019 with my partner, Aj Ritual, with Ritual Noize. Me and Aj, queer goths, have produced events with Tracks and Reel Works for almost a decade. We have residency every second Friday of the month. Our Kink Fetish ball is a quarterly event that we rotate with other alternative/goth and queer-centric events, such as Halloween in July, Goth Prom, Xcentric, Vampire Ball, and more.

How and why were you attracted to the Kink community?

I have worked in the kink, fetish, and lifestyle culture for almost a decade providing entertainment with my performing arts team, Ru Entertainment. After some time, I decided to start promoting and producing my own events with a strong moral code of consent, with high production value of entertainment, and good music. Aj Ritual, my business partner, also a queer leader in the goth and rock music industry with ritualnoize.com, decided to merge business and produce night club events that is much in demand in the alternative communities.

What does your event do for the community, and how does it uplift people?

My goal is to create a safe zone for all expressionists—either if you are goth, LGBTQ+, a burner, into kink or an artist—to “be you” and to be educated by professional leaders of the kink culture. I host open-house community meetings for all kink professionals and leaders to ensure the growth of our event and how we can make our events even more safe, educational, authentic, and entertaining.

You do not have to be experienced in the kink culture to enjoy the night. The night is designed to give newcomers a 101 experience with professional leaders, learn the history of where kink came from, and give our guests a chance to try the kink tasting out and see if they enjoy it.

My goal is to normalize sexuality and help promote small business kink professionals here in Colorado. During the pandemic, many dungeons and small businesses went out of commission. I hope with my event that I can help support the community and create a mass networking hub for others to build their brand. Me and my partner are hoping to expand our events to other cities across the U.S. and spread our magic of diversity.

What can people expect when they attend?

You should expect 20 kink tastings, 20 local vendors, 20 performances, three different dance rooms, and anywhere from 1,500 to 2,500 attendees. We feature kink tastings from all categories, such as shibari suspension with Studio Friction, waxing with Keely Madison, a latex shining booth with Vanilla Kink, and impact and electroplay with Dom Angel and Isobel Devi. We also have outreach booths for such groups as the furry community and Den-Pah puppy play pin and much more.

I have color-coded glow wristbands to signify to others their level of interest:  RED = Voyeur Only / YELLOW = Unsure / GREEN = Comfortable.

Tell us about the theme for the event and what folks can expect in the different rooms.

As our theme of our next event is the “7 Deadly Sins,” we will feature a fun specialty cocktail menu; performances; and heavily decorated installations of lust, greed, wrath, sloth, greed, vanity, and pride. In the Tracks main leather room, we are featuring DJ Brent Milne and DJ Ritual. In the Reel Works Dungeon room we will feature DJ Julian Black, Sante, and Nitrogen. In the lounge we will feature a 90s goth club night with Fashionation613 DJ Eli Labaidie. 21+ / Doors are at 9 p.m.

Our Mezzanine VIP is almost sold out! It includes your own private seating on the second floor with a great view of the main stage, a personal kink demonstrator/dominatrix, a private bar, and a bottle of champagne.

What can folks expect from the evening’s performances?

Ru entertainment is excited to give you an electric, eccentric, eclectic experience of entertainment. I will be featuring 20-plus performances on two different stages in the Tracks Leather room side and the Reel Works dungeon. I will have everything from kinky performances, shibari suspensions acts, bur/boylesque, choreographed dances, stilt walkers, hoopers, sexy go-go dancers, flogation and impact play acts, aerial, contortionist, drag, and much more.

Can you tell us more about the vendors as well?

Our vendors for the night can range from local leather designers, lingerie, toys, art, tarot, costumes, harnesses, accessories and much more. If you are a local business, and you want to vend at one of our events, please contact our Vending Manager Aj Fox with Sobremesa Creative Solutions at sobremesacreativesolutions@gmail.com.
