Kim Salvaggio Named New CEO of The Center on Colfax

Good news for one of the most important LGBTQ+ organizations in Denver, as The Center on Colfax announced today that Kim Salvaggio has been named their new CEO. Selected by The Center’s Board of Directors on the recommendation of executive search committee, Salvaggio comes to the position with over two decades of experience in media and nonprofit sectors. Her most recent position was as Chief Community Equity and Access Officer at Rocky Mountain Public Media where she was a champion for programs like Above the Noise, which sought to foster a greater connection between the community and local newsrooms. She’s also a certified mediator and facilitator, and much of her work has involved the LGBTQ+ community and lifting up trans youth in particular.

“I am honored to step into the role of CEO at The Center on Colfax. The Center’s rich history is not just a testament to our progress but a powerful reminder of the work still to be done,” says Salvaggio, who lives in Erie with her wife Alex and their four children. “Together, we will build on this legacy, fostering a future where everyone is empowered, valued, connected, and inspired.”

The Center on Colfax has a long history of providing important programming to the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado and currently offers things like HIV/STI screenings, peer support groups, programs for young people, queer people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ senior citizens, as well as their history project which seeks to collect the stories of LGBTQ+ people in Colorado. They’re also the organization behind the Denver Pride festival, a celebration that is held every year in late June.

“Kim brings a powerful combination of strategic vision, lived experience, and community-centered leadership,” says Board Co-Chair Amalia Sax-Bolder about the appointment. “Her deep commitment to equity and her ability to build trust across diverse communities make her the right leader for this moment in The Center’s evolution.”

“It’s an honor to be the CEO of The Center on Colfax and work alongside OUT FRONT Magazine—two powerful forces in showcasing queer resilience,” says Salvaggio. “Together, we uplift our history, celebrate our community, and affirm how vital queer visibility is to building a more inclusive future.”

“Our community knows, as through history we have been here before, we need connection with our community—a shared purpose rooted in inclusion, belonging, and the power of showing up for one another,” she adds.
