Freelance Reporter

OUT FRONT, the nation’s second-oldest LGBTQ publication, is looking for freelance contributors on a bi-monthly basis.

We are looking for writers who can cover LGBTQ issues and bring a unique voice and perspective to the table. While this is a remote freelancing position and out-of-state writers may apply, we are mainly looking for Colorado-based writers who can cover local stories, attend events, and interview important members of our community.

Writers must possess a strong voice, the ability to self-edit, creative pitching ability, interview experience, and a willingness to take on tough or unique assignments. We will provide as much support as possible and we will never force you to take assignments, but as a small magazine we are really looking for self-starters who are comfortable picking up pitches suggested by the editor from time to time and contacting sources for interviews themselves.

OUT FRONT is published twice a month, so ability to hit tight deadlines and communicate if there is difficulty hitting those deadlines is ESSENTIAL.

Experience writing about queer issues is appreciated, but not necessary. If you are a writer who cares about LGBTQ issues and wants to break into a new market and support the community during these tense political times, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

If interested, please email our editor at editorial@outfrontmagazine.com. Include why you think you’d be a good fit for this position, as well as some published clips.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
