The Denver Passport is Your Guide to the Spirits World

O’Brian Gunn

Beer and boozehounds rejoice! The Denver Passport is a new way to enjoy your favorite beer and liquor while you discover new ones. We’ve got the hoppy and well-aged nitty-gritty on how you can save yourself some beer money while you fulfill your champagne dreams.

Happier Hour

The 2015 Denver Passport program features a combination of 64 distilleries, bars, restaurants, wineries, and breweries — all of the boozy biggies. The way the program works is that passport holders enjoy a two-for-one drink special at each of the participating locations. Not only is the Denver Passport a great way for you to drink like a queen/king while paying like a pauper, venues get a chance to show you their signature drink. Think of it as branding for the palate rather than the eyes.

The 2015 Passport sold for $20 and boasted savings of more than $500. Now you have one more reason to start putting more money in your IRA. If you don’t have one, getting a Denver Passport gives you a chance to sip on a top shelf beer while you mull it over.

Using the Passport

dpWhen visiting establishments participating in the program, all you have to do is show your waiter or bartender your passport. You’ll receive a stamp in your passport before you proceed to sit back and enjoy your beverages. While you can only use the passport once for each venue, there are plenty of other drinks and locations to choose from.

If you’ll be having a meal with your drink, it’s a good idea to see if there are any specific dishes that pair well. While a good beer or wine is great by itself, you may find it tastes even better with certain foods, seasonings, or spices.

As you’re enjoying the libation-fueled power of your passport, it’s best that you tip your bartender or server as if you were still paying for two drinks. Whenever you receive a discount for services or at establishments where you normally tip, it’s best that you tip as though you’re paying full price for the service or product. Your bartender is sure to appreciate it and repay you with superior service should you decide to pass through again.
