Nevertheless, We Persist: Singing Our Stories for 35 Years

The Denver Women’s Chorus (DWC) is proud to present their 2019 winter concert, Nevertheless, We Persist: Singing Our Stories for 35 Years, on January 25th and January 26th, 2019 at the historic Central Presbyterian Church in Denver, CO.  Under the direction of Artistic Director Mark Zwilling, the 159 member women’s ensemble will celebrate themes of perseverance, community and women’s empowerment, as well as highlight the 35 year history of the Denver Women’s Chorus.

 

The concerts feature DWC performing the inspirational anthem “This Is Me” from the Oscar-nominated The Greatest Showman; “Largo” from Antonin Dvorak’s New World Symphony; “Bread and Roses,” a song commemorating the 1912 Bread and Roses Strike by women workers at the Everett Mill in Lawrence, Massachusetts; “Malala,” a song celebrating the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai; and “Ain’t I a Woman” from the words of Sojourner Truth.

 

Other songs featured for these performances include: Juntos (Together); Lineage, New Colossus; “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten and “Roar” by Katy Perry.

 

All concerts will be ASL interpreted, and in-ear Listening devices will be available at all performances.

 

Central Presbyterian Church is located at 1660 Sherman St in downtown Denver, CO 80202.  Performances will be at 7:30 pm on January 25 & 26, with an additional matinee at 2:00 pm on January 26.
