ABOUT US

Founded in 1976 by our original editor, Phil Price, and activists hungry for representation, OUT FRONT Magazine (then known as OUT FRONT) began as a rebellious LGBT newspaper distributed out of basements and bookshops across the Denver metro area. It became a vital mouthpiece for the local queer community—covering protests, heartbreaks, nightlife, civil rights, and chosen family long before the mainstream media took notice. Over the decades, OFM evolved into a louder, bolder, and more inclusive publication, reflecting the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ life in Colorado and beyond. What started as an act of resistance became a cultural touchstone—one that now reaches tens of thousands of readers across print, web, and events.

Today, the magazine is led by co-publishers Maggie Phillips and Addison Herron-Wheeler, two fierce and visionary leaders who have poured their hearts, talent, and lived experiences into reshaping OFM for the modern queer era. Under their guidance, OFM has doubled down on intersectional storytelling, visual style, and uncompromising community coverage. Addison’s editorial lens is fearless, inclusive, and unapologetically queer. Maggie’s leadership is the engine behind the business model, audience growth, and partnerships that keep the lights on. Together, they’ve transformed OFM into more than a magazine—it’s a movement. From drag shows to death doulas, bar guides to prison letters, OFM is where queer culture lives loud.

Whether you’re scrolling our latest headlines online, connecting with us at our events or finding us at a pride festival—know this: we see you. We belong to each other. And we’re here to tell your story, too. We don’t just report on the queer community. We are the queer community.

OFM TEAM

At OFM (OUT FRONT Magazine), we believe each person is a vibrant contribution to the fabric of life. Meet the team that inspires to amplify queer voices!

Maggie Phillips

She/They

After six years directing OFM operations, Maggie obtained co-ownership along with her fearless business partner, Addison (below). Maggie took over as CEO and co-publisher to carry on the 50-year legacy that Phil Price founded, and continues to amplify queer voices. Maggie considers hiking to be the best therapy and intends to conquer as many mountains as possible until her legs can no longer carry her up.

Addison Herron-Wheeler

She/They

Addison is OFM’s co-owner, co-publisher, and editor-in-chief, and friend to dogs everywhere. She enjoys long walks in the darkness away from any sources of sunlight, rainy days, and painfully dry comedy. She also covers cannabis and heavy metal, and is author of Wicked Woman: Women in Metal from the 1960s to Now, and Respirator, a short story collection.
